AAA batteries are commonly used in small electronic devices, such as TV remote controls, MP3 players and digital cameras. The devices that, working at the same voltage, require higher currents, use larger batteries of type AA. AA batteries have three times the capacity of AAA batteries. However, with the increasing efficiency and miniaturization of modern electronics, many products that had been designed to use AA batteries are being replaced by models that accept AAA batteries. An AAA battery measures 44.5mm in length and 10.5mm in diameter. AAA alkaline batteries weigh around 11.5 grams each, while AAA lithium batteries weigh approximately 7.6 grams, and rechargeable (Ni-MH) batteries usually weigh between 14 and 15 grams. The nominal voltage of the AAA alkaline and lithium batteries is 1.5V, while the Ni-MH or NiCd batteries are 1.2V. The capacity of alkaline AAA batteries is normally 900 to 1155mAh (3240 to 4158 coulombs).
